About us
Nursing home for adults Bistričak is located in the small, picturesque place named Jalžabet in Varaždin county, distanced only 15 kilometres away from Varaždin itself, with which it shares bus and railway transport lines. The nursing home has been functioning since 1998.
The vision of the home employees is to create caring, responsible and professional relationship towards its users, which is the result of the continuous professional development of the home employed professionals. Our mission is for our users to feel safe and taken care of.
We offer services to adults with mental damage and psycho-organic changes. Our care is suitable for mobile, semi-mobile and immobile persons, as well as for persons who require increased care. The smaller number of users is situated by signing a contract about accommodation while the greater number is situated based on decision brought by assigned Social welfare centre.
This year we have included supported housing, in separated housing community of 16 people, in our directory services. This represents a new, high-quality upgrade in offering services, which should effect: an increase in the user’s life-quality, the degree of independence, the rate of adoption of self-care, more independent life planning for an individual and in the community, and finally it is included in the life of the local community. The nursing home offers services of long-term and temporary accommodation of 200 users, which is taken care of by professional staff (social workers, occupational therapists, assistant in occupational therapy, nurses, physiotherapist) and support staff (caregivers, cooks, cleaning staff, laundresses, janitors).
Users have primary health care providers (in accordance with Croatian primary health care): general medical practitioner, dentist, gynecologist and specialist care of psychiatrist and neurologist.
In the nursing home, we offer access to comfortably and entirely equipped single-bed rooms, as well as double and triple bedrooms. Bedrooms located in the new part of the centre are also equipped with individual bathrooms.
Division of intense care is equipped with supplies and medical equipment. Rooms for physical medicine are located in the outdoor facility within which there is a well-equipped gym where everybody are welcome to exercise, in accordance to their medical condition.
Nursing home users are able to use several dining rooms and living rooms with TV, DVD players, as well as video and radio devices. Rooms for occupational therapies are intended for occupational therapy and other activities of the users, according to the size of the activity. Smoking is not allowed within the nursing home rooms while there is a special room intended for such activities.
The nursing home kitchen is equipped according to HACCP’s standards. Three fresh meals are prepared every day (fruits and vegetables grown in the private garden, land and orchard are used very often) while there is also an option of preparing meals À la carte.
A large number of green spaces (around 6500 square meters) are located around the nursing home, together with the stroll, relaxation bench and summer house.
A series of activities for users is organized every day, in order to make their life in the nursing home more comfortable and entertaining.
