Housing Otočac
In 2013, we started a project of organized housing in Otočac. The housing unit is located in the sole centre of Otočac within the apartment building. Two users, which have been in the apartment from the beginning, are functioning very well and are making significant progress. Accommodation for another user has been requested.
In the beginning, users have ensured 24-hour support, but it decreases with time, according to the increase of the degree of independence and user’s involvement in various daily activities. By locating our users into smaller housing communities, we ensure higher life standard compared to which they would receive in the institution.
Care of one’s self, working and living areas, small fix-ups, purchasing of small and spendable materials, planned usage of a monthly allowance, purchasing groceries and preparation of meals, learning hygienic and working habits.
Life within the communal housing for people with mental damages offers the opportunity to live in the local community as an equal member of the society where they are able to entirely participate in all cultural, health-associated, working, sporting and religious contents.
